G.A.S.PEarly Days The Galactic Alliance of Sentient Planets (or peoples...depends on who you ask), founded in 1860, it actually predates that by about Fifty nine years. When the people of the universe first started to venture out into the black void that is space they quickly found each other, and just as quickly they realized that it was in their best interest to establish some basic rules for interacting with each other, more importantly rules dealing with trading. GASP was originally founded as a trading regulation group, with representatives from each and every planet. Called the Trades Alliance (TA for Short) this early incarnation of GASP was rife with corruption (Something that some say hasn’t changed) and almost collapsed into itself, but several planets stepped up and created a more structured political body; Zargonia, Velka and Rakin were the founding members of the current political organization. Structure Currently GASP is structured around three major planets; Zargonia and Velka, with Airosia following closely behind in power. GASP’s center of power is one of only three Behemoth class ships in existence called ‘Furthered Hope’, housing over ten thousand beings the Furthered Hope is the jewel of the GASP fleet. Each planet in GASP has three representatives on the ship, with Zargonia seeing to the monetary aspect of the universe and Velka keeping track of military regime. Split into these two parts GASP gives each representative a single vote for each question in each category, balancing the military and commerce as evenly as possible. In recent years : Airosia joined GASP in January of 1971 after the attack on their planet by the Brotherhood, which incidentally resulted in the breaking off of Rakin and the formation of the Kayooshen Corps. After the attack on Airosia GASP found itself in the first real interstellar war, which lead to an unsettling split between members of the group, some favoring outright war and others favoring a more peaceful resolution. In the end the members of GASP have allowed the lines of communication to remain open, while defending their outposts from attack by the Kayooshen; which has lead to a series of agreements between the galactic super powers ranging on everything from torture to allowing dissenters to leave a planet after it’s concurring. GASP is considered to be much larger than The KC, power wise, but The KC possesses several highly skilled strategists as well as the ability to move troops with less debate (Given that they’re a despot government and don’t care about opinions of their people)...as such the KC has managed to fight GASP to a standstill. GASP is currently the dominant force in the southern part of the universe as well as a great deal of the middle, GASP has recently found themselves spread thin and is currently in a drive to gather more troops and have thus far avoided a draft as several planets have threatened to succeed if this happens. |
